The sand in the joints of the pavers is an integral part of the interlock process of your paver installation. The joint sand helps to transfer loads from one paver to the next allowing the individual pavers to work together as a load bearing system. If the joints are not kept full of sand the pavers will move and cause pavement failure.
We understand the importance of joint sand. Our cleaning process will remove old joint sand, including contaminants such as organic material, moss, weeds, dirt and mold. Our team at Clean My Pavers will re-sand the joints with a new sand of the right specifications.
In some newer paver installations, where polymeric joint sand was used, it may not be necessary to remove it. It is not recommended to just sweep new polymeric sand into the joints in order to top them off. Polymeric sand will not work as designed unless you get a full joint depth installation. Our experts will determine the best approach for your hardscape project.
Once the joint sand is installed it is important to keep it in the joints. Our unique two coat sealing process will stabilize the sand and keep it in the joints.
Polymeric sand is generally installed during new installations. It has adhesive in the sand that solidifies when sprayed with water. When the polymeric sand breaks down and becomes dirty, you cannot fix it by adding more on top of the old. The old must be removed and replaced so that it is a consistent color and texture.
